Book your pan-delicious candlelit dinner for Earth Hour

From Bournemouth to the northern tip of Scotland, whether you fancy a gastro pub supper, a fine dining experience in a luxury hotel or in one of London’s most iconic buildings, you can take your pick of restaurants across the UK for a delicious, sustainable diners by candlelight in which to mark Earth Hour – the biggest annual celebration of our planet.

We’ve teamed up with WWF again, after a successful pilot last year, to offer you the chance to participate in the global event by enjoying a fabulous dinner, with the lights out, at one of dozens of restaurants at 8.30pm on 19 March.

You can take your pick of dozens of venues in which to enjoy your candlelit dinner, including Brasserie Blanc and D&D, as well as well-known landmarks such as OXO Tower Restaurant, The Savoy, Daylesford and River Cottage. Whether you’re looking for sustainable seafood, an all-organic experience or a menu that’s local and seasonal, you can take your pick and enjoy a candlelit experience.

Raymond Blanc, President of the Sustainable Restaurant Association which runs Food Made Good, said: “Thousands of restaurants, from Michelin-star to fish and chips shops are amongst those working with Food Made Good, demonstrating that good food can be produced sustainably. I’m extremely proud that many of these restaurants will be switching off their lights for WWF’s Earth Hour to showcase how easy it is to cook some delicious food that’s good for you and the planet, while reminding us that together we have the power to make change happen.  And we already are.”

Arbor Restaurant at The Green House Hotel in Bournemouth and The Captain’s Galley in Scrabster are at opposite ends of the country but will both be switching off the lights, along with landmarks across the world. The Captain’s Galley, the 2015 Sustainable Restaurant of the Year will be serving deep sea fish – that live without light!

Diners at Daylesford in the Cotswolds can sample impeccably sourced food while marveling at the night sky, as star-gazing is also on the menu at the Cotswold venue.

On the night we will be encouraging diners and restaurants to share pictures of their Earth Hour dishes on Twitter using #candlelitdinner for a chance to win a dinner for two at one of your favourite Food Made Good rated restaurants in the UK. We will pick our favourite with WWF and announce the winer by March 25th 2016.

Just in case you need a reminder of what Earth Hour’s all about…it’s the world’s biggest environmental event – every year millions of people take part worldwide and last year in the UK over 9 million people participated alongside over 1000 business and organisations and 4600 schools and the lights went out in landmark buildings globally.
