DESCRIPTION
Great food in relaxed friendly surroundings. Hidden down a cobbled lane in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, two minutes from Princes Street. We offer simple cuisine, skilfully prepared with attentive, knowledgeable and personal service. Our menu changes daily, reflecting the seasons and the availability of fresh produce. Wherever possible ingredients are sourced from local suppliers and we are strong supporters of the ‘slow food movement’, buying direct from the farm enables us to cut down on food miles and support the local economy. To name a few: Hugh Grierson’s Organic Chicken, Carrol’s Heritage Potatoes, Humphrey Errington, Sea Magee, Damhead Organic Vegetables, Eassie Farm, George Campbell & Son, Ben Robertson’s Funghi & Forage. We have created an atmosphere of relaxed informality where attention to detail is our guiding principal. Our inspiration comes from the great traditional French cafes and restaurants which many of us have enjoyed in the past. The warm welcome and unmistakable French decor reflects the long and close relationship between Scotland and France celebrated in the ‘Auld Alliance’.
