We’ve come a long way since our first pub opened in 1979 in Muswell Hill London, to today where we have more than 920 pubs and hotels across the UK and Ireland. Ground-breakers and record makers, we created our first beer festival in 1990, offered smoke-free areas as early as 1991, and opened the first of many airport pubs in 1992.
Offering breakfast in all our pubs began in 2002 as did our commitment to fundraising for CLIC Sargent (Cancer & Leukaemia in Children) – that has to date raised more than £12 million.
We are proud of our achievements setting a world record for the biggest wine tasting event, being the world’s largest seller of Pimms and winning Pub Company of the Year in 2000 and 2010 and most responsible managed chain in 2002.
Our commitment to the environment was rewarded in 2009 with the prestigious Green Apple Award and we have consistently been in the top 100 of best employers for the past 13 years. We are proud to be listed on the FTSE4 Good index for our commitment to strong environmental, social and governance practices.
We set great store by using British and regional products where possible with free range eggs, and award-winning sausages, dietary information and healthy eating and vegan options as well as a range of craft beers, ciders and real ale well cared for by our award winning innkeepers.
Family friendly, our pubs are the focal point for many facets of community, with live sports, free Wi-Fi, children’s menus, take away coffee and are open from 8am. Read more at our website www.jdwetherspoon.com
