Chartwells at Brunel University

DESCRIPTION

Chartwells at Brunel University London have embedded a culture of sustainability across their operations. These include, but are not limited to introducing new ways of operating, primarily via app-based platform, Uni Food Hub and designing menu offers that drive the reduction in food waste. With food being cooked to order and no longer sitting on hot hold counters, food waste has reduced by 33% year on year in the first quarter.

We offer click & collect, order ahead and delivery across campus using bikes / scooters or on foot. We have also launched F.U.E.L. (Fuelling unique everyday lives) and initiative that showcases nutritional and sustainable menu items across all our concepts. An average of 71% of all menu options are vegetarian / vegan. Our ongoing quest was recognised when we won the Foot Print Sustainability in Education award in 2020 and achieved NUS Green Impact accreditation in the same year. We have implemented a strong Single Use Plastic eradication program and now have a social enterprise coffee shop on campus in partnership with Change Please, Life changing coffee, that will help us take homeless people off the streets in Uxbridge. The journey continues with exciting new innovations planned for the near future.
