Sustainable supplier Rubies in the Rubble seeks new product launch partner

Tomato Ketchup is, hands down, the most popular condiment on the planet. With over 160 million Heinz bottles sold annually, we guzzle down over 500 tons of the stuff every single day, using 2 million tons of tomatoes, and a lot more sugar.

And when it comes to ketchup brands, there’s really only one. Or at least, that’s what we thought. But then we thought again. What if there was an alternative?

What if the planet’s favorite condiment was also good for the planet?

What if we could make use of some of the hundreds of tons of perfectly good food being wasted every day – by using it in a ketchup recipe?

At Rubies in the Rubble, we make condiments with a conscience. Since 2011 we’ve been tirelessly fighting food waste, by rescuing wonderful, nutritious food from going to waste by turning it into delicious relishes.

But we want to do more.

We have a bold and exciting plan to offer a better ketchup. But we can’t do it alone.

We’ve partnered with one of Europe’s largest ketchup manufacturers to make a classic Tomato Ketchup, which matches the world’s best in taste, quality, and consistency. We’ve removed the largest ingredient in the world’s most popular condiment – sugar – and replaced it with fruit and vegetables that would have otherwise been discarded.*

The result will be a mainstream product, done better in every way.

We are looking for a large-scale partner from the sustainable restaurant community to launch with. We want you to be part of the story – finalizing the recipe, co-creating bespoke formats and packaging, and developing a unique communications piece that delivers on the ever-increasing consumer demand for more responsible supply chains.

  • uses condiments, particularly ketchup & mayo, in large volumes
  • is committed to reducing its carbon footprint

*Tomato is listed as the first ingredient on the back of ketchup packs, but once made into a concentrate, is only legally required to make up 8% of the final recipe. Refined sugar comprises up to 30% of the final recipe.
